Adiam A Weldegaber

Raised in a family which inspired me to become a doctor, I always dreamed of pursuing a career in medicine. However, life has taken me to a different path, and completed my undergraduate studies in the Department of Marine Biotechnology at Massawa College of Marine Science and Technology. It was during my second year that I started to be enthusiastic about extracting medicinal compounds from marine biodiversity for human health. After completing my undergraduate degree, I began working in coastal area, where my curiosity about marine ecosystem deepend. I perceived that beyond extracting medicines from marine organisms, sustainably managing these ecosystems provides a long-term solution for human well-being. This realization has led me to join DIFS. My desire is to bridge ichthyology and biotechnology, conducting research on ecology, evolution, climate change and conservation of fishes to provide scientific perceptions that support sustainable fisheries managment.
