Dr Henriques is a population geneticist working on commercially exploited fishes, and is particularly interested in understanding how oceanographic conditions influence the evolution of marine species. Dr Henriques completed an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at the University of Lisbon, an MSc in Conservation Genetics (University of Lisbon) and a PhD in Molecular Ecology (Royall Holloway University of London), where she focused on genetic research in the Benguela Current Region. For the last five years, she was a post-doctoral fellow at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) working on fisheries genetics on the Benguela Upwelling System. Currently, Dr Henriques is a H.C. Ørsted / Marie Curie COFUND post-doctoral Fellow and is part of GENOJAWS, a worldwide project investigating historical trends in population genomics and effective population size of elasmobranchs (http://genojaws.org).
